PARENTS AS PARTNERS
Parents As Partners is an intensive, early intervention voluntary program to assist parents and families who have been identified by the Department of Children & Families (DCF) as being at risk for child abuse/neglect.
Utilizing a positive, strength-focused manner to achieve more productive and meaningful lives. Parents As Partners provides tools to families in order to successfully complete their objectives to strengthen their families and avoid intervention by the child welfare system.
With the assistance of funding from The Children's Board of Hillsborough County, Hillsborough Kids, Inc. (HKI), and United Way of Tampa Bay, Parents as Partners concentrates on specific at-risk geographic areas throughout the community.
The program links families to needed community resources and provides follow-up linkages to natural and community supports. Some of the services include family counseling, free developmental screenings, tutoring, mentoring, parental support and education, and behavioral management interventions.
As part of a countywide collaborative, The Children’s Home Inc, (CHI)’s Parents As Partners serves 21 zip codes in the western part of Hillsborough County; Plant City was added on 3/30/09. Established in 2001.
