The Children's Home Edition Volunteer Opportunities

The Children’s Home's big Home Makeover starts in just a few weeks on August 8th, with a big surprise reveal on the 11th for the children living on our residential campus. While they are away at Summer Camp, we will be in their cottages painting walls, replacing furniture, restocking their pantry, planting some flowers, making over their rooms along with many other fun projects. We have had an amazing outpouring of support but are still in need of volunteers to help make it all happen.

Projects still needing some extra helping hands:

Monday, August 8th

Fancy Nancy
Time: 9am – 12am
# of Volunteers Needed: 30 to 40
Ages: 15+
Activities: Clearing out the children’s belongings from all bedroom and bathroom areas; boxing all items from the kitchen cabinets and living room bookcases
Special Skills: Must have ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Supplies Needed: Boxes, Garbage Bags, Labels and Pens

Voltron Force
Time: 11am – 1pm
# of Volunteers Needed: 4 to 6
Ages: 18+
Activities: Take apart bedroom furniture; transport furniture to maintanece shed; transport mattresses to storage area
Special Skills: Must have ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Supplies Needed: Rachet sets, work gloves

One Pine Place
Time: 12pm – 5pm
# of Volunteers Needed: 40 to 50
Ages: 18+
Activities: Sanding and applying finish to bedroom furniture
Special Skills: Must have ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Supplies Needed: Hand sanders or belt sanders, protective eyewear, work gloves

Tuesday, August 9th

Dr. Rose
Time: 10am – 2pm
# of Volunteers Needed: 25 to 30
Ages: 15+
Activities: Weeding plant beds on campus grounds
Special Skills: None
Supplies Needed: Gardening gloves, lawn bags

One Pine Place
Time: 10am – 3pm
# of Volunteers Needed: 20 to 30
Ages: 18+
Activities: Sanding and applying finish to bedroom furniture
Special Skills: Must have ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Supplies Needed: Hand sanders or belt sanders, protective eyewear, work gloves 

See Spot Run
Time: 10am – 3pm
# of Volunteers Needed: 10 to 15
Ages: 15+
Activities: Cleaning mattresses
Special Skills: Must have abiliyt to lift up to 25lbs.
Supplies Needed: Disinfectant, paper towels 

Wednesday, August 10th

Shoo Fly, Don’t Bother Me!
Time: 9am – 11am
# of Volunteers Needed: 15 to 20
Ages: 15+
Activities: Clean windows, sweep floors and wipe down surfaces
Special Skills: None
Needed Supplies: None

Goodnight Moon
Time: 9am – 12pm
# of Volunteers Needed: 40 to 50
Ages: 18+
Activities: Re-assemble bedroom furniture
Special Skills: Must have ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Supplies Needed: Rachet sets, work gloves

Fancy Nancy
Time: 12pm – 3pm
# of Volunteers Needed: 30 to 40
Ages: 15+
Activities: Putting all of the children’s belongings away; re-stocking kitchen cabinets and living room bookcases
Special Skills: Must have ability to lift up to 25lbs.
Supplies Needed: None
